Submit Your Comments on the Proposed Yellowstone Winter Use Rule

Comment Period open until July 16, 2007

The National Park Service (NPS) has released their draft rule for management of winter use in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway. This rule will implement their forthcoming final decision regarding the proposed Winter Use Plans Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) which was also recently open for public comment.

The draft rule will implement Alternative 1 from the recent Draft EIS. Since this alternative would not allow any type of non-commercial access and would also close Sylvan Pass, changes are needed to the draft rule to make it more acceptable for long-term snowmobiling access.

The Draft Rule can be viewed at www.regulations.gov by selecting "Document ID" in 'optional step 4' and then entering NPS-2007-0126. Once the line for this rule is displayed, click on one of the "view" options to review the rule or click on the "comments" symbol to submit electronic comments.
